Best teeth whitening method.
Nowadays, there are several options to whiten teeth, the dentist office is not the only solution patients have to brighten their smile; white teeth have become a sign of beauty that everyone wants, from men to women, and bleaching is almost the most required cosmetic treatment. The enamel is the mineralized surface of the teeth, it is a hard tissue that, depending on its thickness, can determine the color of the teeth.
The characteristics of the enamel are genetic, but its color may become more yellow because of many factors: the use of tobacco, foods and drinks like wine, coffee or tea, the age, a not proper daily oral hygiene, that allows plaque to proliferate, some kinds of diseases and medicines.
In any cases, there are good chances to whiten teeth, even if there can be some downsides to taking care of, and bleaching won’t work on caps, crowns, veneers, or fillings; the dentist may provide different treatments for false teeth in order to reach a uniform result.
During the years, the enamel is eroded and stains are formed on the surface of the teeth, so whitening treatments are mainly made of two substance, carbamide peroxide, and hydrogen peroxide, that break these stains; to whiten teeth there are several methods, more or less rapid and more or less expensive.
With in-office treatment, provided by the dentist, the teeth are exposed to a stronger strength gel (30% to 35% solution of carbamide peroxide) in a very short period, so this method is very fast, but it requires a lot of care to maintain the result and can cost hundreds of dollars.
Most effective teeth whitening.
It seems that the most effective methods are the ones that use a less amount of bleaching agents but for a much longer period of time: for example, there are custom whitening trays from your dentist; whitening trays are not very cheap, but they are applied for several weeks and are also considered the safest way to whiten.
This because one of the most common downsides of bleaching is the irritation of the gum, that might be avoided using treatments with less concentrated gel.
Best way to whiten teeth. Whitening toothpaste and rinses.
So-called over-the-counter whitening products are another way to whiten teeth: there are, for example, whitening toothpaste and rinses, that can also help keep your teeth white after your dentist bleaches them, whitening strips, paint-on or brush-on formulas. All these methods can work, and they are usually cheap, but bleaching agents are less concentrated: it can take some time to find the most suitable product, be careful of the gum and remember that they don’t work on caps, crowns or fillings.
