Toothbrush is the fundamental instrument used at home to prevent accumulation of plaque and oppose development of stains on teeth; it is formed by a head of tightly clustered bristles mounted on a handle.

Toothpaste is a paste or gel dentifrice that is put on toothbrush and has different tasks: it help to clean and maintain the aesthetics and health of teeth, it is an abrasive that remove plaque, food or stains on teeth (whitening toothpaste) and contribute to hinder halitosis.
Usually, there are many ingredients in a toothpaste, the most common active ingredient is fluoride that prevent tooth decay and mantain the health of the enamel, but there are many different toothpaste for different needs, as for periodontal necessities.
